  • The museum curator performs senior scientific tasks as well as administrative tasks. He is responsible for the enrichment, conservation, study, development and dissemination of the collections. He manages the inventory of collections, sets the agenda for scientific research and the development of collections in the museum space and guarantees preventive conservation. He distributes this data through organising temporary exhibitions and events. He administers the institution and defines the external communication policy.

  • The collections department has a scientific vocation. Its missions are to enhance, inventory, maintain (with the help of several restaurateurs), study and publicise the collections within the Grasse museums. The department is organised around the collections management centre and two documentation centres. They collect, store and organise documentation on the history of perfumery for the MIP and on regional Provencal history for the MAHP. The collections department is also responsible for computerising the inventory and digitising the collections.

  • The Visitors Department works on programming and cultural mediation. It creates links between collections and the public, questions and arouses curiosity: it gives everyone the opportunity to express themselves and to invest. To do so, it is responsible for the design and implementation of workshops and educational courses, the dissemination of information documents for each type of visitor, a varied programme: fun booklets, audio guides or audiovisuals, tours or storytelling visits, workshops, shows etc. The cultural mediators work in the museum but also beyond the walls: theatre, prison, hospital, schools.

  • Come rain or shine, the public must be welcomed and the gardens maintained daily. Growing traditional perfume plants, conserving the agricultural landscape, protecting the biodiversity: the gardeners have many tasks! Their role is to enrich the collections of plants for the olfactory route, and develop the gardens so the walk through them is increasingly pleasant and fragrant. They actively welcome and inform the public offering guided tours or gardening workshops. But often, during passionate conversations, when turning down a lane, they reveal the knowledge passed down by generations of gardeners and farmers.

  • Their chosen field? Maintenance of the museum collections and the building. Or how to work on both the container and the contents of the Museums of the City of Grasse. Tasks are to maintain the site in optimum condition so that visitors and staff attend a functional and secure facility. They are also responsible for finding and installing innovative and economical solutions for the building, the reserves and for the permanent and temporary exhibitions.
    Roles: Technical manager of the building, computer & multimedia installations, technician specialising in preventive conservation, technician specialising in electricity

  • Before they can admire the museum's masterpieces, the reception manager is the first contact the visitor has with the museum. This may shape their first impression! Reception staff inform the public, get involved in security and ensure shop sales. Security officers share the responsibility of protecting the public, welcoming them as well as ensuring the safety of the works, the museum and its facilities. These Roles require good knowledge of the works and the museum's operation, the mastery of foreign languages, interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team.

  • The administrative staff are responsible for the administrative coordination of all activities related to the secretariat, staff, budget, relationships with external service providers. They manage human resources and coordinate the team of reception staff and those monitoring the museum's rooms as well as the General Secretariat.

  • The different areas covered by communication have acquired considerable importance for museums (internal communication, fundraising, public relations, privatisation). A strategic tool, communication publicises the establishment’s actions and supports curators in achieving their goal of making the museum known to the greatest number (both visitors and future partners).

  • They organise and manage the circulation of art inside and outside the museum in collaboration with curators, and the administrative, legal, scientific and technical departments. They ensure compliance with conservation and transport standards for works of art by developing a preservation policy.

  • They constitute and add to the holdings, implement and develop emerging documentation tools, disseminate scientific knowledge, assist the curators in their management tasks. This shadow work serves the museum staff as much as it does researchers and passionate individuals who come to consult the museum's rich documentation. It is about enriching the collections - purchases, catalogue exchanges, subscription management - in line with the nature of the museum's collections, preparations for exhibitions, publications, educational workshops, etc. Unseen and yet essential, the documentalist has an evolving role sharing a passion for the collections with the curators.
